Day 206, 7/25/2011

Behold, the weaponry of a wild cat.

The Canadian Lynx is quite at home in the Interior, feeding predominately on snowshoe hares, which are abundant here. This lynx was caught in a trapline.

The controversial practice of trapping is still largely supplemental to the livelihood of many Interior Alaskans, dating back to the Native cultures that trapped for centuries before sharing techniques with European settlers who honed and imparted their skills to generations that followed.
